Senior Software Development Engineer

Due to significant investment and growth here at EMIS we are looking for an innovative and solution driven Java focused Senior Software Development Engineer to join us on a permanent basis.

We are looking to scale our products, and we need your technical expertise to do that. We are working within Java/Kotlin, TS/JS, Python, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL and AWS.

What you’ll do

You will aid ownership in the design, development, and delivery of fulfilling business obligations, and will proactively share your own knowledge and experience for specific technical solutions and business processes in your area of expertise.

We want you to operate with an open mind to allow you to focus on improving current practices and bring value to the team through a time of transformation.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

• Possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of software development to the completion of complex assignments.
• Work towards enabling business roadmaps and long-terms objectives, whilst also being able to balance short term needs against long term stability.
• Adopt a solution focused mindset when managing engineering problems, partnering effectively with your team to deliver against commitments.
• Get involved in all aspects of the development lifecycle including architecture, code reviews, testing and non-functionals, as well as cutting code.

Who you’ll be

You will be an experienced Software Developer, who demonstrates great experience and knowledge with our core tech stack; Java/Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Spring, and AWS. Ideally, you’d be open to learning new stuff too!

You will be a self-motivated and curious individual who enjoys working with autonomy and thrives from working within a complex environment where there is a focus on continuous improvement.

The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with your peers and wider stakeholders within the business is key, whilst always having a focus on our customer’s needs.

Technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;

• Hands on experience of our core tech stack
• Exposure to cloud-based technologies (AWS/Azure)
• Flexible and adaptable to change
• Proactive approach with a focus on quality
